Skull

  1. 1. Reid's base line is a horizontal line, obtained by joining infraorbital margin to the centre of external acoustic meatus
  2. Infection may reach through emissary vein into cranial venous sinuses even there are presence of valves in the vein.
  3. Function of air cells in skull is to reduce the weight of skull and maintain humidity of inspired air.
  4. Metopic suture lies median plane and separate parietal bones.
  5. Parietal foramen transmits emissary vein from veins of scalp into superior sagittal sinus.
  6. Fontanelles allow overlapping of bone during vagina delivery.
  7. Obellion is the point between coronal suture and sagittal suture.
  8. External occipital protuberance is median prominence in the lower part of norma occipitalis.
  9. Superior nuchal lines are not always present.
  10. Sternocleidmastoid and splenius capitis insert at superior nuchal lines.
  11. Glabella is a median elevation connecting two superciliary arches.
  12. Nasal bone is one of the most commonly fractured bone of the bone.
  13. Pterion is the area where three bones - frontal, parietal and temporal - adjoin each other. 
  14. Mandibular nerve and lesser petrosal nerves enter skull through foramen spinasum.
  15. Foramen magnum is the largest foramen of skull.
